"I think we were punked today." That is the best way I heard it put by another parent. Yes, this race appears to be all Harmony students....BECAUSE IT IS!!! Last year, there was a boys race and a girls race. This year, they decided to take the top tens from each team and have an open boys AND girls race together. First of all, not fair. Boys are stinkin fast. Second, NO medals at all for the open! What incentive do they have? Third, the only ones to stick around for the open was our team. So we raced against ourselves. Yep. That's right. It was some sort of not so funny joke on us. I didn't tell the kids there would be no medals, they wouldn't have tried. Maybe even wanted to go home. Both did very well, against their own team.
Daisy was the 2nd girl in with a time of
14:48 for a 3K (7:56 minute mile), she was the 7th kid in. Daisy's time
was 41 seconds faster than her time for this race last year.
Jacob came in 14th among the boys at 17:23(9:19 minute mile). Don't know where he came in among all the kids together. But he did well. I am proud, his time was 40 seconds faster than the last 3 K at the horsepark.
On a good note. We ended our day with a reward at the pumpkin farm.
